Handcrafted Glass

There are several excellent places to visit
hand-blown glass studios and galleries along the entire coastline. Some studios even offer glassblowing classes to aspiring artisans. You should check online and contact the studio that you want to visit to ensure availability ahead of time.
You can watch the artists as they blow a beautiful work of art. It is very fascinating to see how they take a piece of glass and work with it and eventialy come out with a very pretty vase or bowl.
Glass blowing is a 2000 year old craft of turning molten glass into goblets, vases, bowls and other forms of art.
Artist Galleries
If you are not sure what kind of art you would really like to take home with you, head to one of the many
art galleries on the Oregon Coast. There you will find many all along the coast line that offer Northwest artists a place to show their art.
There are many artists that work with glass, wood carvers, photographers, metal art, pottery, jewelry makers, oil paintings and many different handcrafted products.
Some of these artists feature artwork very specific to the northwest such as salmon wall art and salmon fish mounting. Others provide work that is simply their passion or a part of their heritage such as painted silk scarves, glass prism seascapes and stone carvings.
It does not make any difference what you are interested in you will find an abundance of arts and crafts on the Oregon Coast.
Wood Carving

A popular Northwest craft is woodcarving. There are workshops and galleries along the coast where you can find everything from wall carvings to indoor or outdoor benches.
The woodworkers use various techniques for their finished projects including wood burning, painting and polishing the work. Some is done with small hand tools; other work transforms a giant log into art using a chainsaw. Many shops will provide shipping and can also take orders for contracted, customized projects.
There are also many places along the coast that have wood chain saw carving. You will be amazed at what they can do with the chain saw.
