There is so much to see. There are river cruises, walking and driving tours, wildlife viewing and of course shopping and dining. The first thing that you should do is take a ride on the beautiful 1913 streetcar. You can’t beat the price at $1.00 and it takes you through the whole town.
You will get a close up look at the canneries, sea lions and boat traffic on the Columbia River as well as the shopping.
Flavel House
Picturesque Victorian homes dot the hillside above the town. One home you don’t want to miss is the Flavel House.
The 1885 Queen Anne home was the home of Capt. George Flavel. It is in beautiful condition and very interesting to see how they lived over 100 years ago.
Summer in Astoria brings many events popular with residents and visitors alike. A bustling Sunday market in the heart of the city brings families to buy handmade arts and crafts, jewelry, locally grown produce and hardy plants.
Vendors offer various ethnic food and there’s usually live music to be enjoyed.
Astoria Events
Fisher Poets Gathering is held every February. People with ties to the fishing industry gather to share stories, songs, artwork and food with others interested in fishing. Crab and Seafood Festival Sample fresh crab, seafood and Oregon wines. The event features continuous entertainment, children’s activities and a petting zoo. More than 200 vendors will offer Oregon wines, food and arts and crafts for a great time for the family.
Scandinavian Midsummer Festival If you’re Scandinavian, the Midsummer Festival offers a chance for you to renew ties with the old country. You don’t have to be Scandinavian, however, to get into the spirit of this event. Taste mouth-watering food, listen to beautiful music and shop for handmade crafts.
Regatta Festival A tradition since 1894, making the oldest festival in the Northwest. The 5-day celebration on the historic waterfront has something for everyone – sailboat races, concerts, classic cars, softball ship tours and great food.
Great Columbia Crossing Be part of the 10K Walk/Run across the mouth of the Columbia River on the 4.1 mile Astoria Bridge, which is open to pedestrians just once a year for this event. It is usually held in October.
