cedar plank salmon This cedar plank salmon recipe produces a rich, smoky flavor that you will love.

Just imagine serving a piece of salmon that is just as good as you can get in any restaurant.

Cedar plank is a method of cooking and smoking your fish that has been used for many years.

The Indians use to cook some of their food this way. There are some cedar planks below that you can check out. Just be sure to use natural red cedar with no preservatives.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 24" x 8" x 1" untreated cedar plank
  • 6 (4 ounce) salmon fillets
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • onion slices
  • lemon

Directions For Making The Best Cedar Plank Salmon

  1. Soak your untreated cedar plank in water for 12 hours or overnight.
  2. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat. Place your cedar plank on the grill and sprinkle with coarse salt. Cover the grill and heat your plank for 2-3 minutes until dry. Turn grill temperature to medium heat.
  3. Rub the salmon fillets with olive oil and arrange on plank. Lay onion and lemon slices and whatever spices you like on the salmon.
  4. Close lid and cook the salmon for 20-30 minutes, or until opaque and it flakes easily with a fork.

These cedar planks are some of the best and very reasonable. I love cooking with cedar because of the flavor. You can check them out and see for yourself.
