Find Glass Floats Along The Beach In Lincoln City

glass balls Years ago you could find glass floats on the beaches. They were blown glass in shades of green and blue.

I only have the green ones and they still have the net around them. The Pacific Ocean would bring in many floats every year. You could usually find them right after a storm.

I think the fun is in the searching for them. You always have that expectation that just maybe today you will find the elusive float.

The Japanese fishing boats used them to float their nets. But the problem now is that the fishing vessels now use buoyant plastic.

Wouldn’t you know that modern day technology would spoil our fun of looking for elusive little balls.

Lincoln City started a project in 1999-2000 of releasing 2,000 hand blown replicas on the beach in the winter.

Tourists came from around the country to search for their own brilliantly colored, signed and numbered glass float.

Lincoln City

glass floats This year since it is 2007, 2,007 glass floats will be hidden on the beach from October to Memorial Day. Some will be put out every day that the weather permits.

Why not start a new family tradition! Come on over to the beach at Lincoln City and experience the joy of searching for the little elusive things.

These floats pictured here look like the originals that you use to be able to find on the beach.

As I stated before, the ones that I have are like the green one pictured here with the net still on them.

Central Oregon Coast

Lincoln City is located on the Central Oregon Coast. It is our favorite place to stay because there is so much to do there.

I started looking for glass floats when I was a little girl and have been looking for them ever since.

You just can’t believe the joy you get when you find one.
