Great Seafood Recipes From The Oregon Coast

fresh seafood Seafood is very abundant on the Oregon Coast and is one of my favorite foods as well as my husbands. I love to try new recipes and I have found some great ones.

There is nothing like going clamming or crabbing and then going back and cooking them. They are so nice and fresh and succulent.

You can't beat fresh fried clams on an open fire. You also don’t want to forget about that tasty clam chowder or crab legs dipped in garlic butter or even a Crab Louis. I am drooling already!

We love to go fishing and then cooking what we have caught but you don’t have to do your own fishing. There are fresh seafood markets all along the coast and that have the best fresh products caught right out in the Pacific Ocean. One of our favorite places to buy some is in Lincoln City. The stores aren’t fancy but boy do they have great choices. It all depends on what is in season. In Newport you can even buy fresh halibut, salmon and crabs right off the fishing boats.

When we go to the coast, if we are not camping then we rent a motel with a kitchen. For some of our meals we like to get some fresh seafood to prepare in the motel. We also like to buy extra to take home and freeze, that way we can enjoy it all year long. You can also check out these Salmon cooking tips.

Health Benefits

The FDA recommends that Americans incorporate at least eight ounces of seafood, or two servings, into their diets per week.

Eating small amounts high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as shrimp, tuna, salmon, pollock and catfish daily can cut the risk of death due to heart disease by 20 percent, according to studies released at the Seafood and Health conference.

It is great to know that something that you like to eat is also good for your health. It is easy to get your correct amount of fish because you can substitute it in many different dishes.

What a great way to help lower your cholesterol and lower the risk of heart disease!

I am all for that.
