Enjoy the South Beach State Park

south beach state park The South Beach State Park is located just south of Newport, OR and offers a variety of recreational opportunities.

The first time we stayed at the park it hadn’t been open for very long. The trees were only about 5 ft. tall and there wasn’t any privacy.

On our first camping trip there, it rained all the time so we couldn't do much but stay in the camper.

Can you imagine the fun that was with 2 adults and 3 children! This was many years ago before they put bathrooms in campers and to top it all off, we weren't that close to the restrooms.

Since then the trees have grown up and there is a lot of privacy for all of the camp sites and all of the kids have grown up and now have their own means of camping.

I will say this though, we still had a lot of fun playing games and making up stories.

Explore The Oregon Coast Aquarium

You also don’t want to miss the Hatfield Marine Science Center and the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

This picture is taken in the acrylic tunnel in the Oregon Coast Aquarium. The passages allow you to walk through the tunnels, surrounded by deep water marine animals such as sharks, rockfish and rays.

Yurts At South Beach

south beach yurt If you don’t have a tent or RV don’t worry because the park has yurts that you can rent.

The picture here is one of the yurts and they are really nice.

The kids can play for hours at the playground and be ready for bed at night from all the fresh air.

After they go to bed then you can just sit around the fire and enjoy your peaceful surrounds. If you are with your loved one you can just sit and have a romantic evening just being together by the fire.

Playground At South Beach

The kids will have a ball at this playground.

There are many times that you can get some kind of ball game going. Once you start playing other campers will come along and want to join.

You can have some interesting volleyball games. It doesn’t make any difference if you are any good at the game. Everyone is there just to have fun.
